2030: Electric cars could dominate in large cities, analysts argue

(dpa) - Full electric vehicles (EVs) are set to rule the roads in the world's top affluent cities by 2030, according to a thought-provoking report. The trend is being driven by stricter controls on vehicle emissions in urban areas, coupled to a fall in the cost of the technology and buoyant consumer interest, said the analysis by Bloomberg New Energy Finance. The authors say that in densely populated, high-income cities like London and Singapore, "electric vehicles could represent as many as 60 per cent of all vehicles on the road by 2030." EVs are…continue reading →

BMW reveal new K1600B bagger

BMW Motorrad have just whipped the covers off their new K1600B bagger in America – the market that asked for this version, and where the firm will undoubtedly sell the most of this quirky creation. The presentation of the Concept 101 concept study as part of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Spring 2015 was a serious tip-off to the K16’s bagger shaped future, but many thought BMW would never build such an overtly American offering. But here it is – looking just like the bike MCN's spy snappers caught on the road…continue reading →
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, the winner of World Superbike Championship

Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, the winner of World Superbike Championship

It's difficult not to respect a motorcycle like the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. Just last year, a similar machine had stormed to the top two levels of the World Superbike Championship at the hands of the brilliant Jonathan Rea and Tom Sykes, taking Kawasaki to the top of the Constructors' Standings. Visually, the resemblance to the old ZX-10R, which this new model replaces globally, is obvious while the changes are subtle. The windscreen on this bike is slightly wider with subtle smart ducts on the side of the fairing channelling air. The odd-looking chin…continue reading →

Audi Q5 2018 is more efficient and better to drive on- and off-road

by Jon Wong @JonWonger That fact that Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, is home to picturesque beaches isn't a shocker, yet the well-cared-for roadways north of the city are a pleasant surprise. But large portions are straight and not very entertaining from the driver's seat of my European-spec 2018 Audi Q5 tester, which is why I'm happy the leader of our six-car convey is moving at a quick clip to get to the better stuff through the mountains. Under directions from our hosts, the drive is a lead-follow format that has an Audi employee…continue reading →

Chevrolet’s hydrogen-powered stealth truck enlists with U. S. Army

Chevrolet is entering the silent service. The automaker has built a hydrogen-powered truck for the U.S. Army that generates its own electricity with an onboard fuel cell. The heavily-modified Chevrolet Colorado-based rig is powered by a 174 horsepower electric motor that can drive all four wheels while making hardly any noise and keeping a low thermal profile compared to an internal combustion engine.
