Cyclists from Sui Southern Gas Company dominated the first day of ‘SSGC National Road Cycling Championship’as they bagged 5 out of 6 top positions in the two cycling contests that were competed on the first day of the event being held under the aegis of Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) at DHA’s Sea View coastal belt.

SSGC paddlers Naimat and Ghulam Hussain clinched first positions of the Individual Time Trial (42 kms) and Team Time Trial (98 kms) respectively. The championship is being hosted by Sui Southern Gas Company and contested by 36 cyclists from 6 teams including Sindh A, Sindh B, Balochistan, KPK, Punjab and SSGC.

The third and final phase will be a Team Time Trial (70 kms – 5 x Laps) race that would be contested on Sunday’smorning at the same venue. Senior officials of PCF including Syed Azhar Ali Shah (Secretary General), Nisar Ahmad (VP), Col. (R) Saad Ibnul Hasan (VP) and Salman A. Siddiqui (PRO) were actively involved in managing the event whereas from SSGC Col. (R) Shoaib Ahmed (Head of Admin) and Shahbaz Islam (Head of Corporate Communications) along with their respective teams were present to ensure flawless management of the event.

The jury comprised of former National Champion Nusrat Khan (Chief Judge) and Javed Khan (Asst. Judge) whereas SSGC’s Ishtiaq Mubeen was the Organizing Secretary of this Championship.

Competition of high level was witnessed today as the paddlers were seen putting their best efforts while sprinting to take lead in various phases of the race. The prize distribution / concluding ceremony would be held at SSGC’s Head office auditorium on Sunday’s eve.
